Project specifications and overall objective:
The Polrud diversion dam was constructed to raise the water level for downstream transfer and to reliably divert the river’s flow for the irrigation of lands situated on both the left and right banks of the Polrud River.
The project is located on the Polrud River, approximately 3 kilometers southwest of the city of Rahim-Abad and about 250 meters downstream of the confluence of the Samush and Polrud rivers, near the village of Bank-Sar.
Subject of the Contract:
Construction of the diversion dam, water intake facilities, and other associated ancillary structures, as well as the temporary river diversion systems for the Polrud River and a concrete cut-off wall.
The Polrud diversion dam is a concrete structure comprising the following components:
Uncontrolled concrete spillway
Sediment discharge conduit
Fish ladder
Intake opening
Stilling basin
Sediment trap and flow distribution structure
Water transfer siphon to the right bank
Pedestrian bridge over the spillway
Concrete cut-off wall
Earthen platforms and protective dikes
